And God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind.’ Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over all living creatures of the earth.’ So God created humankind in his image, male and female, and blessed them.

Lord, we thank you for creating us, and giving us our families and friends. We ask that you help us with our relationships, help us make our strong ones to be stronger, our broken ones to be healed and our new ones to continue growing.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

And God said, ‘Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth.’ God blessed them.

Lord, we thank you for the fish and the birds that inhabit this world. Without animals the world would be a tougher place to live, so we ask that you look after them as much as you look after us.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to separate the day from the night.’ God made the sun, the moon and the stars.

Lord, we thank you for the sun, moon and stars, for the warmth and light that they give to us. We ask that you help us to see the full beauty of nature and the entire universe that you gave us.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

And God said, ‘Let the waters under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.’ Then God said, ‘Let the earth put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and fruit trees of every kind.’

Lord, we thank you for the land, sea and plants that make this world a beautiful place to live. We ask that you help those who work on the land and the sea, sometimes in the harshest of conditions.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was without form and covered with darkness. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.

Lord, we thank you for bringing light to the dark times in our lives. We ask that you look over the people we know who are in need of your comforting presence at the moment.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Lord, we thank you for all those who spend their lives trying to make ours better – for those in public service, for the ‘Good Samaritans’, for those who devote themselves to charitable works and for all those who help others to find You.

About intercessions.co.uk

When trying to write some intercessions for a local church service many years ago, I was astounded by the lack of help and inspiration found on the internet. I decided that something had to be done to help all the people out there that have not had any intercession writing training, or are just plain stuck. This repository of prayers can also be used for your own personal use.

Feel free to browse through our ever expanding collection of Intercessions and Prayers, or use the category selection on the right to help you find a specific prayer.

If you would like to submit a prayer or suggest a new category then please email it to beki@intercessions.co.uk Please include details of authorship, as we do not want to steal credit for anyone else’s work. Jesus is here with us ready to speak peace, ready to rejoice with his disciples, ready to empower us for his mission by providing us with the Holy Spirit. We pray O Lord that as your disciples, your church would be always willing to follow you, ready to witness to your resurrection power, ready to proclaim what you have done, what you are doing and what you will do in the future.
